EVENT / DATE & LOCATION

SUMMARY OF THE EVENT

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first event / fly of 2010. The weather was dry and cold with winds around 13 - 18 mph onshore. The beach was rippled (first time I have ever seen that at the HO!) but that didnt stop the fun.

Those in attendance = Budoboy, Bear, Titch, Timmy, Fitter, Fibre, Lee m, Smegg, Trucknut, Mad Dog Pete, Waterworks, Crackers, Flo and  The Ramseys put in a quick visit, so a good turn-out and it was great to see everyone.

"Titch" was putting in some great jumps with some nice air time in the bug, and "Lee m" was carving a truely nice edge, putting down some good speed on the board and getting some nice air aswell.

"Bear" decided to go on tour along the beach towards the Saunton side, and like a muppet I followed him only to get a good soaking through some what I thaught were shallow trickles but were deep rivers, "Fitter" also got a soaking as he followed too - so cheers "Bear"!!! - it was good healthy fun though.

"Timmy" decided to sit on the beach for a while and when I approached him to see if he was ok, he said he some sort of testicle problem ??? well I left him with that one - Hope ya nuts ok now buddy....

"Waterworks" came up all the way from depest Cornwall, and was acting photographer, thanks for that Al, hope you back in the buggy soon mate. Some great Pics though buddy.....

It was a great Sesh & was nice to see so many PKC together, was great to meet new flyers "Mad Dog Pete". The Ramseys put in an appearance too.

All in all - a great "filling shaking" day.

Thanks all.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The PKC are entering 2 teams in the Hoylake 24hr event in June, and a requirement of the event is that all pilots must have race licences. Nudge worked his arranging magic (as usual), and set it all up for us -So, me, "Nudge", "Bear", "Titch", "Fibre", "Trucknut", "Fitter" and "Rocky" were to go to the Ho! and under the watchfull eyes of Dieter Grossman ("Kiteboyzi") we were to undertake the "Pilots" test.

In true PKC style we made a full weekend of it (even tho the test was on the Saturday) we stayed the Friday and the Sunday too.

Friday proved too windy to fly, so we decided to give it a miss (for safety reasons) as the wind was a gusty and lumpy 40mph +, so we went to Asda instead and gave our saturated fat levels a good kicking and had mahoosive breakfasts (well "Fibre" had two large blades of grass as he is a "Veggy" - poor him, freak). The remainder of the day was spent moving into the chalet to the sound of the "Welsh Veggie" saying "I want my own room, and I am prepared to pay extra for it" well that was it, that set the tone for the rest of the weekend:- "Taffy" had become "Timy" in one foul swoop, and was to pay for it....

Dieter arrived mid afternoon, a realy nice guy (not brokeback mountain stylie, just a nice guy) with a great sense of humour, and it was great to meet him, and we all spent the remainder of the day / evening getting aquainted, and doing the written test for licence, and attempting to justify why on earth god made Wales.

Saturday morning there we were 8 brave souls on the beach, virgins to the whole affair watching Dieter put out the flags and set up the course. The wind was low, and we all got set up and after a quick brief we were off:-

Through the start gate we went and in no time we had unleashed bedlam upon the beach, there were shouts of "turning" at every turn, even the odd shout of "praying" from "Nudge", and every now and again shouts of "turning, oh ok maybe not then" could be heard. In no time at all the marker flags had been knocked out.

"Rocky" gave "Trucknut" a nice Tboning and I think everyone had commings together with kites and lines, I know my bedspread got in many peoples ways. At one stage I thaught I saw a boarder on the circuit (yes I did, Lee m, had joined us).

"Rocky" and "Titch" are the club buggy freeestylers, and they just couldnt resist the temptation to 2 wheel it round some of the track, it was funny to see.

It was great fun all in all, flying in such close proximity to one another, and having to negotiate a course rather than the usual up and down as is normal was tireing, but what an ace laugh. Everyone had a great time, we laughed, we had fun and we learnt new skills.

We had become "PILOTS".

I would like to thank Dieter on behalf of the PKC for giving up his time for us - top bloke....

Thanks also to Nudge for all the effort in arranging things as allways mate, cheers.

Thanks to the Welsh Veggie "Fibre" for allowing us to take the mickey out of ya all weekend - you took it well mate.

Thanks to "Bear" for getting a new PB of 46mph on the sunday, gues I'm James May again now mate...Well done mate know you been wanting to get into the 40 club so welcome mate well deserved.

Thanks to all of us for a great weekend together, what a laugh, what a weekend, and congratulations to us all - - -

WE ARE NOW "PKC PILOTS"s to

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A great PKC gathering at Westward HO!, for a Racekites weekend. This event attended by:- "Nudge, Bear, Titch, Timmy, Rocky, Fitter, Nige, Jamiekitelad, Jerry, Smegg, Ramsey" and it was great to see "Hogster" & "Faith", "Hotrodder" and "Trucknut" over the weekend too. It was great to have "Jerry" out flying again - (" hope ya had great time buddy, and hope we see more of ya "), quite a good gathering of the PKC members, and thats allways a good thing.

The weather over the weekend was faultless, super sunny, dry, and at times quite hot, absolutely great. The beach however, was not up to its normal standard, it was rippled because there was little or no swell, and the sand was soft which is allways anoying (to me anyway) does my head in when the sand is soft it zaps all the power out of the kite, and ya have to work so hard to move a few feet.

Never mind, cant have great conditions all the time, so we all just made the best of a bad beach. I flew my new Apex 7.5m on the friday, and loved it, she flys just like her bigger brother (the "Judge") so was super chuffed with that, up until "Timmy" decides to OBE right into my kite lines and  drag it down intpo a nice deep puddle and fill it with water, but after a short while I emptied the kite cells and she flew off again no problem, so no damage done, and "Timmy" was ok too which is the most important thing, so that good.

The Saturday was a low wind day, so it was a "Judge" day, but the beach was the same, soft sand & rippled so not much buggy action at all.

The fun factor however was great, and the lack of beach action certainly did not take any of our fun enthusium away, and it was fun, fun, fun as usual, which is what I enjoy the most about being away with the guys - we allways have a laugh.....

"Ramsey" brought along some fireworks, and on the Saturday night "Braddicks" camping site was fortunate enough to hold the first PKC Fireworks display, all had fun, and if anyone was woke up at 2am when we held it, we are sorry - NOT !! what a laugh it was.

I drew the short straw and shared a room with "Rocky", who snores like a Hippo having an eppy!!! - you owe me a nites sleep Rock!!!!. No harm done and all good fun.

We all shared the usual "Piss take" banter between ourselves all which makes the weekend a great time - thanks guys I had a great time.

It was also great to meet some new people, and put faces to forum names, in particular it was great to meet - "Special K" (Karen), "Peter 32", "Seth", "Martin R", and simply loads of others, and being an old fart, names have slipped my mind at the moment so I apologise to you now, sorry dudes, but great to meet you all, and I hope we meet again soon.

All in all a fantastic weekend, great fun, great PKC gathering, and great meeting new people. The weather was brilliant.

Excellent weekend - thanks to you all.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

First trip 0f 2010 for me to Pembrey in Wales. Was a long journey for me as I had to go to Brighton first, so all in all on the 23rd I travelled over 500 miles in the car from Plymouth, to Brighton then on to Prembrey - I was knackered by the time I got there.  Anyway!!

I arrived on the 23rd about 5 pm, to find "Nudge", "Bear" and "Titch" already there and set up, was greeat to see after they told me they were just leaving Plymouth, and texting me all the way to appear behind me on their journey - "Nice one guys - was fun".

There were quite a few kiters there for the meet, so a good weekend of flying on the biggest beach I have ever seen was up for the taking.

The PKC members present were: Nudge, Bear, Titch, Fibre, Princess Vic, Fibre, Timmy & Waterworx. Quite a few of us were sporting brand new larger tents.

The friday was a low wind day, and we didnt get much kiteing done at all, so we had more of a sit on the beach day, than a sesh - but when ya with ya mates thats cool.

The Saturday was a much better day, with good winds (bang on shore), I had the Apex 5m out, and it was working and pulling like a dream. I managed to cover 131 miles on the day, although I could hardly walk after getting out of the "Budobug" (a standard PL buggy) at the end of the sesh.

"Bear" was flying his LEI's and having a great time, Both he and I were criss crossing eachother and generally flying closely it was great fun. "Titch" was practicing "jumping Trees" on the beach, Yes I did say trees, Quite amazing height being aachieved in the bug, I dont know how he does it but he does. He is becomming quite an amazing freestyler, who manages to make it look easy.

Timmy was practicing going backwards for the first time, am sure he will have it nailed soon - "keep at it mate",

It was greatr to be kiteing again with "Waterworx" (Al), been a while since he flew, so he was having a much deserved and long awaited fun sesh, good effort Al, glad ya had fun mate.

The evenings and the camping was great fun with loads of beer and general banter amongst the lot of us, and as allways all the kiters getting on with eachother no problem - again a reason why I love this sport so much - great people from all over the UK just enjoying eachothers company exchanging great banter.

The sunday was a great sesh too, with great winds again on shore.

The weekend whent far too fast, but it was such a great time, on the beach kiteing / buggying and the social scene was great too.

Everyone had an absolute fantastic time, no one got hurt which is allways good

Cant wait for the next Pembrey meet in September now..

As allways thanks to all me mates of the PKC for such a great time, cheers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

What an amazing weekend, attended by Bear, Titch, Nudge, Maxine,Timmy & Waterworx. We arrived on the Thursday (a bit of a tradition to get there a day early), and am glad we did, had an amazing sesh with the whole beach to ourselves, the winds were bang on shore and it was the inaugural run of the new PKC buggies - so Bear, Titch and myself (Nudge didnt arrive till Friday) took them down the beach for the first time and they were amazing (I did have wheel ballance problems), with only minor trimming and set up required - absolutely amazing bugs.

The Thursday was a wash out it rained all day, so there was no flying that day, but the Saturday came good - nice weather and good strong winds. I attempted to do a sesh of some 300 miles (in one go), but sadly only managed 175 which is a new best for myself. I will get 300 before long maybe next year, but I will do it.

Quite a good turnout with loads of buggies and boarders. Titch won the Buggy Freestyle event (his first trophy) so well done to you Titch mate, excellent.

We all had a great time, the bugs were amazing and Titch returns home with a trophy, coupled with making more new friends and meeting great people it was an amazing weekend.

A special thanks must go to Dai, for all the hard work in sorting ALL my problems out over the weekend - especially sorting out my front axle - Dai, thanks your a star mate.

An excellent time and an xcellent event as allways - thanks to the CLSC for hosting the event - great stuff.
